NINGXIA HUI: China recently inaugurated its first-ever driverless monorail transit system in the northwestern district of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The system is known as 'Yungui', and has started being tested this week.
The train travels swiftly on a linear, singular track automatically. This means that the vehicle is self-driven and does not require need for a driver.
It runs on a separate track 4 meters above the ground and runs on a speed limit of 80 kph.
In addition the train is also equipped with an extensive artificial intelligence based facial recognition technology.
Created by developers BYD, the train will begin trial operations in the second quarter of this year.
